Vertebral Augmentation

IZI – Osteo-site® Vertebral Balloon, Blazer-C® Wire, Kiva® Vertebral Compression Fracture Treatment System

Minimally Invasive Spinal Pain Solutions

A successful vertebral augmentation surgery can be a real game changer for a patient. Minimally invasive procedures can speed recovery time and deliver dramatic results. We partner with IZI to give you more tools than ever to repair Vertebral Compression Fractures (VCFs) that reduce pain and improve patient mobility.

OSTEO-SITE® VETEBRAL BALLOON

The Osteo-site® is a balloon kyphoplasty technique using a balloon catheter to gently lift bone fragments into their correct position within the effected vertebra.

This technique can correct lumbar disc height and correct angular deformity from spinal compression fractures (VCFs) due to osteoporosis, benign lesions or cancer. A space is created within the vertebral body, the balloon(s) are then deflated and removed. The resulting cavity allows for a controlled deposition of IZI’s orthopaedic bone cement — which helps form an internal cast to stabilize the bone.

OSTEO-SITE IS A SAFE & EFFECTIVE TREATMENT FOR VERTEBRAL AUGMENTATION

Osteo-site® Vertebral balloon kyphoplasty usually takes about a half hour per level, and most patients are discharged from the hospital the same day of their surgery.

Once the patient has recovered and healed, back pain is reduced and there is less need for pain medications.

BLAZER-C® WIRE

Blazer-C is a minimally intrusive treatment option for the stabilization of vertebral compression fractures due to osteoporosis, benign lesions or cancer.

The Blazer-C wire allows:
• Precise placement of the device and channel creation within the vertebral body
• Easy and consistent advancement and retrieval
• Complete vertebral body coverage via a unilateral approach

IN-OFFICE SURGERY WITH BLAZER-C MEANS QUICK RECOVERY TIME

Blazer’s Nitinol wire allows the surgeon to create a path through the vertebral body bone and provides a cavity for the bone cement. Once the cavity is created, Blazer gives directional control and provides predictable and accurate cement deposit through cannulated wire.

The procedure usually takes less than an hour per fracture and works under local or general anesthesia, meaning that the Blazer-C spinal stabilization can be performed in a spine specialty office or in a hospital setting.

KIVA® VCF TREATMENT SYSTEM

The Kiva® VCF Treatment System is the first new approach to treating vertebral compression fractures since 2010. For the first time, through a transpedicular approach, physicians can deliver an implant with a predictable structure.

The Kiva implant also serves as a reservoir to contain and direct the flow of cement. It is indicated for use in the reduction and treatment of spinal fractures in the Thoracic and/or lumbar spine from T6 to L5. It is intended to be used in combination with the IZI Vertebral Augmentation Cement Kit.

KIVA – A NOVEL TREATMENT FOR VCFs

Kiva has met or exceeded the performance of balloon kyphoplasty in three separate comparative studies.

Kiva has been shown to:
• Reduce the rate of adjacent level fracture and injury to surrounding tissue
• Improve kyphotic angle restoration, creating a straighter and more healthy posture in the patient
• Reduce the amount of cement volume and leakage to the surrounding tissue
